Working with Us
-
The services included in your design fee depend on the project scope and the design package selected. Depending on the project, services may include space planning, functional layouts, cabinetry and millwork design, interior elevations, dimensioned floor plans, 3D renderings, furniture planning, and construction-focused design documentation. Finish and material selections, furnishings, procurement, contractor coordination, and other additional services are available separately and are billed at $150/hour unless otherwise specifically agreed to in writing.
-
Design fees vary based on the size, scope, complexity, and level of involvement required for each project. Lauren Rebecca Interiors offers both project-based design packages and hourly services. General anticipated investments are provided on the Investment page, with a specific proposal provided after the project scope has been established.
-
Interior design involves significantly more than selecting finishes or decorating a room. Depending on the project, the work can include space planning, research, cabinetry and millwork development, detailed drawings, 3D visualization, product selection, vendor communication, revisions, coordination, and extensive time spent developing the details before construction begins. Design fees reflect the professional time, expertise, planning, documentation, and services required to develop the project.
-
Yes. Your stated budget is an important part of the design process and helps guide the scope, product selections, finishes, and level of customization considered. While Lauren Rebecca Interiors will develop the design with your budget in mind, final construction and furnishing costs will depend on contractor pricing, product selections, material availability, and the final scope of work.
-
Construction and furnishing costs vary substantially depending on the existing conditions, scope of work, materials, products, contractor, and level of customization. Lauren Rebecca Interiors can help develop a design and make selections with your stated investment in mind, but contractor pricing determines the actual cost of construction. Furnishing budgets are developed based on the scope and selections being considered and may change as the design develops.
-
Absolutely. Lauren Rebecca Interiors works on individual spaces as well as larger renovations and whole-home projects. A project can be scaled to the specific space and level of assistance you need.
-
Yes. Space planning and functional layout development are a significant part of the design process. Depending on the project, this may include reconfiguring rooms, modifying openings, planning cabinetry and built-ins, improving circulation, and developing new layouts before construction begins.
-
Yes. Lauren Rebecca Interiors provides design planning and consultation for new construction projects, including layout refinement, functionality, cabinetry, finishes, furnishings, and overall spatial cohesion.
-
Yes. Lauren Rebecca Interiors can work alongside an architect, builder, or other design professional to provide interior planning, cabinetry and millwork design, finish selections, furnishings, visualization, and construction-focused interior documentation.
-
Yes. Lauren Rebecca Interiors can recommend industry professionals from her network when requested. Depending on the project, this may include general contractors, trim carpenters, electricians, plumbers, flooring installers, finish installers such as wallpaper, mirror, and fixture professionals, and other residential trades. Any professionals recommended are independent businesses and are not employees or representatives of Lauren Rebecca Interiors. The Client is responsible for independently evaluating and selecting any contractor or trade professional, and Lauren Rebecca Interiors does not control their pricing, scheduling, business practices, workmanship, or other business decisions.
During the Design Process
-
Project timelines vary depending on the size and complexity of the project, the number of spaces involved, client responsiveness, revisions, product availability, and the level of design documentation required. A proposed timeline will be provided with your project information, but estimated dates are not guaranteed.
-
Lauren Rebecca Interiors provides detailed design drawings and documentation appropriate to the agreed project scope, which may include floor plans, cabinetry layouts, elevations, dimensions, notes, and other construction-focused documentation. These drawings are intended to communicate the design and support contractor pricing and execution. Stamped architectural or engineering drawings are not included and must be provided by a licensed professional when design requires.
-
Yes. Realistic 3D renderings can be included as part of the design process, depending on the project scope. Renderings allow you to visualize the proposed space before construction or purchasing decisions are made.
-
Every project requires a different level of design involvement. Some homeowners prefer to make their own selections, while others want guidance through every finish and product decision. Keeping selections separate allows Lauren Rebecca Interiors to tailor the level of service to each project and gives homeowners flexibility in how they use their design time. For example, you may choose to have Lauren accompany you for the entire flooring selection process, or you may visit the showroom on your own, narrow down the options, and have Lauren join you for the final hour to review your selections, help pull the overall design together, make final recommendations, and answer questions about products. This approach allows you to use your design time where it is most valuable rather than paying for assistance you may not need.
Because material showrooms do not display pricing as prominently as a typical retail store, having Lauren involved can also help keep selections aligned with your intended budget as you work through the options. If a particular material or product ends up being outside your budget, comparable alternatives can often be identified quickly without having to compromise the overall design direction. Finish and material selections can be added to a project as a defined service or provided on an hourly basis.
-
The design process includes opportunities to review the work, provide feedback, and make revisions. Initial design concepts are reviewed together before the design is refined, allowing you to communicate changes or concerns throughout the process. The goal is to develop the design collaboratively so that the final package reflects the direction established with you.
-
Two rounds of revisions are included in the standard design process. These revisions are intended to refine the approved design direction and address changes or adjustments based on your feedback. A complete redesign, fundamental change in direction, additional spaces, or other work outside the original scope may require additional design services.
-
Yes, but changes requested after design approval may result in additional design fees and adjustments to the project timeline. Changes that substantially alter the approved design direction or project scope may require additional services beyond the original project scope.
Construction
-
No. Lauren Rebecca Interiors operates independently from your contractor, and design fees are separate from any fees charged by your contractor. While we may work together collaboratively on your project, your contractor does not employ Lauren Rebecca Interiors or manage the design process.
My design process remains the same whether you contact me independently, your contractor works with me as their preferred designer, or your contractor recommends me for your project. Each business operates independently, with its own scope, fees, and responsibilities.
I do not charge for quick phone calls or emails with your contractor when they are simply needed to clarify the design or answer a project-related question. Additional coordination is billed at $150/hour when it involves on-site collaboration, calls or meetings exceeding 20 minutes, revisions to finalized plans, or other design work beyond the agreed project scope.
-
Yes. You are welcome to work with a contractor of your choosing, and Lauren Rebecca Interiors can collaborate directly with your contractor throughout the design process. Contractor coordination and additional project support are also available as an hourly service.
-
Lauren Rebecca Interiors does not serve as the general contractor or construction manager. Additional design coordination can be provided during construction, including contractor communication, product coordination, showroom appointments, and installation-related design support.
-
The contractor, installer, fabricator, or other professional performing the work is responsible for construction methods, installation, workmanship, and execution. Lauren Rebecca Interiors provides design documentation and can communicate with contractors regarding the design, but does not control how the work is constructed or installed.
Furniture and Purchasing
-
Yes. Furniture and furnishings are available as an hourly service at $150/hour. This may include product research, sourcing, selection, vendor coordination, ordering, receiving, and delivery coordination, depending on the level of assistance you need. Furniture procurement and related services are billed separately from standard design packages.
-
Yes. Furniture sourcing and procurement can be provided as a separate service even when Lauren Rebecca Interiors did not provide the original design for the space. The service can include furniture research, selection, procurement, and coordination based on your existing space, style, functional needs, and budget.
-
Yes. Many of the furnishings available through Lauren Rebecca Interiors can be customized with a variety of finishes, fabrics, and other options. Some pieces offer extensive customization, including hundreds or even thousands of fabric options. When appropriate, fabric and finish samples can be requested and reviewed prior to placing an order so you can make an informed decision about the final piece.
-
Yes. Existing furniture can be incorporated into the design when appropriate. Furniture planning considers the size, scale, proportion, function, and overall relationship of existing pieces to the space. New furnishings can also be sourced when additional pieces are needed.
-
Yes. Mattresses can be sourced as part of a furnishing project, along with the bed and other bedroom furnishings. Lauren Rebecca Interiors can help coordinate the mattress selection with the overall bedroom design and furnishing plan.
-
Yes. You are always welcome to purchase items independently when Lauren Rebecca Interiors is not providing sourcing or procurement services for those items. When you ask Lauren Rebecca Interiors to research, source, recommend, specify, or procure a particular furnishing, the professional service includes more than simply providing you with a product name or link. It may include researching available products, accessing professional vendor accounts, communicating directly with manufacturers and vendors, coordinating pricing and ordering, arranging freight and receiving, inspecting items upon arrival, coordinating delivery, and assisting with issues such as damage or manufacturer warranties.
If Lauren Rebecca Interiors has sourced or recommended a particular furnishing for your project and you choose to purchase the same or a substantially similar item through another source because you found it elsewhere, a sourcing and procurement fee may apply as outlined in the Design Services Agreement. This does not apply to furnishings that you independently select and purchase when sourcing and procurement services were not requested.
When you independently purchase a furnishing rather than having Lauren Rebecca Interiors procure it, Lauren Rebecca Interiors will not be responsible for procurement-related services associated with that purchase, including vendor communication, delivery coordination, receiving or inspection, damage claims, warranty assistance, or other purchasing-related coordination. Professional vendor relationships and direct access to manufacturers are part of the procurement service and are not transferred to the Client for independent purchasing.
-
Lauren Rebecca Interiors purchases furnishings from manufacturers and vendors and resells those furnishings to the Client as a retail furniture provider, in the same way a traditional furniture store purchases furnishings from manufacturers and resells them to customers. The difference is that Lauren Rebecca Interiors provides this service without a traditional retail showroom or warehouse. Furnishings procured through Lauren Rebecca Interiors are provided at the Designer’s established retail price, plus applicable sales tax. The established retail price may account for the Designer’s costs associated with coordinating with manufacturers and vendors, freight, receiving and inspecting furnishings, storage and staging, delivery coordination, and other procurement-related services.
The Client is purchasing the furnishing from Lauren Rebecca Interiors at the Designer’s established retail price. Trade pricing, wholesale pricing, vendor pricing, discounts, purchasing terms, and other confidential information relating to the Designer’s professional vendor accounts are not disclosed to the Client. The Designer is not obligated to match third-party pricing.
-
Depending on the project, Lauren Rebecca Interiors can coordinate the sourcing and procurement of furnishings and other products. Procurement may include product research, selection, ordering, vendor communication, freight and receiving coordination, and delivery coordination. Procurement services are billed separately at $150/hour unless otherwise specifically agreed to in writing.
-
Furniture and furnishings must be paid in full before an order is placed, just as they would be when purchasing furniture through a traditional furniture retailer. Lauren Rebecca Interiors will provide an estimate for the specific furnishing order, including the applicable furniture pricing, procurement, freight, receiving, delivery, and any related design or procurement services. Once the selections and pricing have been approved and payment has been received and cleared, the order will be placed.
-
Receiving and delivery arrangements are determined by the individual manufacturer, product, and level of procurement service. Some furnishings can be delivered directly to the Client’s home as they become available, while certain larger or specialty items must be shipped to a local receiving facility due to the nature of the delivery, freight requirements, or the need for a loading dock. When a local receiver is required or selected, Lauren Rebecca Interiors can coordinate receiving, inspection, storage, and local delivery to the project.
For larger furnishing projects, items from multiple manufacturers may arrive at the receiving facility at different times and can be held until the complete order has arrived. For example, an entire living room can be received and stored over the course of several weeks, then delivered and brought into the home together on the same day. Receiving, storage, and local delivery fees will apply when these services are used. Alternatively, when permitted by the manufacturer and delivery arrangement, furnishings may be delivered directly to the Client as they become available.
Lauren Rebecca Interiors can also be present at the project for furniture delivery when requested. Time spent on-site for delivery coordination or receiving is billed separately at the Designer’s standard rate of $150/hour. If the Client elects to receive furnishings without Lauren Rebecca Interiors present, the Client is responsible for inspecting the furnishings upon delivery and for documenting and reporting any damage, defects, or other issues to the appropriate delivery service or manufacturer within the required timeframe. Lauren Rebecca Interiors is not responsible for damage, defects, or other issues that are not identified and reported by the Client when the Designer is not present for delivery.
-
Furniture is subject to the policies and warranties of the individual manufacturer, carrier, receiver, and delivery service. Lauren Rebecca Interiors can assist with procurement-related communication regarding an issue when applicable, but is not responsible for damage or loss that occurs during manufacturing, freight, shipping, receiving, delivery, or handling by a third party. Additional time spent coordinating damage claims or warranty issues may be billed at $150/hour.
-
Furniture lead times vary by manufacturer, product availability, production schedules, and shipping conditions. Some furnishings may take several weeks or longer to arrive, and certain pieces may have lead times of twelve weeks or more. Lead times provided by manufacturers and suppliers are estimates and are not guaranteed.
